The International Mounted Games event was begun in England by Prince Philip, who encouraged the creation of a competition for children, on 'ordinary' ponies. Later the International Mounted Games Association was formed to allow adults to compete, but the origins of the sport are with Pony Club.
The games are great fun to watch, and practiced riders are spectacular, but all the kids start out with simple Pony Club games at Rallies.
International Mounted Games is held annually in one of the competing countries, selection and training is organized by Pony Club Australia
Riders must have competed at National level to be eligible for selection. The individual states nominate members on a roster system.
